NURU by Eamon Bernard

NURU
by Eamon Bernard

On the ancient, endless Savanna that Nuru was raised, life was hard but simple. He and his tribe traversed the land driving their herd from the ocean in the west to the mountains in the east. Everything changed in a single night when monstrous creatures out of legend attacked Nuru and his family and transformed his life forever. Now he must find a way to survive in a hostile world and find a way to warn others about the evil forces marshaling in the silent darkness.

AN INTERVIEW WITH EAMON
-What inspired you to become a writer?

I was always that kid sitting in the back of the classroom doodling spaceships in my notebooks. Eventually, I started writing my fantasies down and found out other people might actually enjoy them.

-If you could visit your book’s world for a day, what one thing would you do?

I would ride a mokele. Thundering along on top of a giant hairy dinosaur-looking creature? Sounds fun assuming I survive.

-It’s two in the morning. What does your protagonist reveal in confidence? (Don’t worry, we won’t tell.)

Nuru is a cocky, impatient, insecure teenager. He would probably break down about whatever girl he has a crush on and then beg me in a panic not to tell anyone.

-Which of your characters would you go out for drinks with?

Nuru's father Imari would probably be the best drinking buddy. He would always have a joke or a fun story to tell. Either him or Caph ... so long as her snark is directed toward someone else.

-You’re in a tavern, and a dwarf challenges you to a duel. What do you do?

I would cause a distraction and run. You don't mess with dwarves.

-Is there a genre you could never write? Which and why?

I would probably never write a romance novel ... by popular demand.
